Lee Marc Stein is a 2006 recipient of the Direct Marketing Club of New York’s prestigious Silver Apple Award for distinguished contributions to the industry.
Lee began in direct marketing as a 21-year old copywriter with Prentice-Hall. Since then, his 40+ year career has included corporate managerial positions, 10 years on the agency side, and over 10 years as an independent consultant. His responsibilities have included developing marketing plans, evaluating and providing recommendations for marketing programs, creative development and execution, list and media planning, database generation, and response and profitability analysis.
As a consultant, Lee has worked with such companies as Advanta, AIG, American Century Investments, American Express Publishing, BriteSmile, Entertainment Publications, Golden Rule Insurance, Humana, MBI, Pitney Bowes, Prudential Insurance, Sage Software, and The Travelers.
Before resuming his consulting practice in 1997, Lee had been Senior Vice President Direct of Earle Palmer Brown New York. He was involved in strategic planning on U.S. Air's Frequent Traveler Program, The Money Store, and Colonial Penn Auto Insurance.
Prior agency experience included positions with Rosenfield Sirowitz Humphrey & Strauss, Modular Marketing, and March Advertising. At Rosenfield Sirowitz, he was Management Supervisor for two Chase profit centers and also worked on Mead Johnson Nutritionals, Smith Corona, Dial Corporation, and Hertz Claim Management. At Modular Marketing, he worked on The New York Racing Association and helped build its database into a powerful traffic generating tool. At March Advertising, he wrote the plan to win the Lotto account and then helped the client write the document that sold it to New York State.
Lee taught at NYU's Center for Direct Marketing, Hofstra University and C.W.Post. He has appeared more than 100 times as a speaker or panelist at industry conferences. Lee is a columnist for Inside Direct Mail, and his articles appear on numerous marketing web sites.
